If so, why do I need to? error (502), "unable to resolve hostname" From: "David Tran"

The only issue is connecting from outside of the domain. Also, regarding the SRV records, a SRV record requires a host above the domain, so you MUST but in a server name. If you look at the diagnostics logs what do you see? Eg 503 is service unavailable whihc may be because the peer is down. You need to look at jabber logs to see why its not able to contact the active server.
