i will buy weeds and smoke it. In your shoes, I'd try SpinRite. I believe they'll refund your money if it doesn't fix the disk. (And if it does, I'd replace the drive anyway.)

Because i the laptop was slightly tilted i think it came up with the error but when i put it on a flat surface it worked. RMA? Why fail?? Here is what I have done on some occasions.

this can corrupt even more data.  Why move data around on a drive that has errors?  What is corrupt is already corrupt, and what is not corrupt is currently safe... Outlook will definitely corrupt those.   As far as backups for the future.. Thanks for that tip. Back when 40 MB drives cost more than computers do now I used it on every system I put together.

I think i have same problem but some different. C:>CD (to wherever the file is located) C:wherever>copy Outlook.pst NUL 1 file(s) copied. If I copy it from cmd prompt with a c switch, it still errors CRC because it's all one big file.
