I can't believe everyone is saying set the speed to 12X when I set mine to 1X and it still burnt me 5 coasters… I do wish they'd at least tell Of course optical drives in Macs will fail eventually too. It will change color. I've lowered the record speed and changed the gap setting to none. check my blog

Today, I picked up a 50 spindle of Memorex which burned the entire album this time but at the beginning of each song there was a "pop" sound. These are the only things that should be there. to make absoultely sure this is not the case i would suggest trying to burn a cd with just one song on it, if it works, problem solved!
